Joining Rainbow is simple – and you can start any time of year!

1

See a meeting or event

Want to see what Rainbow is all about? You’re invited to attend a meeting or join us for a fun event. You’ll meet other girls, see how things work, and experience our warm and inclusive vibe.

2

Fill out an application

Send us a bit of information and pay the small application fee (<$40). Then, you’ll meet with two members and an adult Advisor to talk about what happens next.

3

Become a Rainbow Girl!

Every new Rainbow Girl takes part in a special ceremony called initiation. You’ll learn the meaning behind our teachings — all shared by members who live those values every day.

Leading the rainbow life

Attend local meetings

We meet twice a month! Each girl has a speaking role they practice for ~6 months before trying a new one. After the meeting, there’s time for food, fun, and catching up with friends.

Dress to impress

Most meetings are done in “business” attire, but big events and banquets are your chance to shine in a formal gown. There’s no uniform, but are some guidelines — choose something that makes you feel confident and you!

Grow through travel

Our members get the chance to explore new places and grow their confidence by traveling to provincial events. These experiences strengthen friendships, foster independence, and offer unforgettable moments that stay with them for life.

Leading with love

Whether you’re leading a ceremony, supporting a sister or helping your community, Rainbow gives you chances to grow your confidence, skills and character — all while putting our values into action.

FAQ: what to know about joining Rainbow

Rainbow is an affordable activity for youth! While fees vary by Assembly, our one-time application fee is usually less than $20, and most Assemblies have yearly dues less than $40.

Additional costs for members include purchasing dresses, travelling, and taking turns bringing snacks to the meetings. But, there’s lots of creative ways to keep those low such as carpooling, buying dresses second hand, and fundraising—we can also help when needed.

While we don’t have a uniform, we do have guidelines for our members to follow.

Girls wear business clothes for most meetings and get to wear formal gowns for special events—but there’s no one way to dress. Members love expressing their style, and we often swap, borrow, or thrift gowns together.

Not at all! Most girls come in not knowing anyone. You’ll be matched with a big sister and welcomed like family. All of our closest friendships started with one brave visit to a meeting. You do not need to be from a Masonic family to join. Rainbow welcomes all girls who share our values.

Then you’ll fit right in.

Many Rainbow Girls are quiet when they first join—and they grow more confident over time by practicing and learning at their own pace. We support each other with patience, encouragement, and lots of laughter.

We meet twice a month, plus have fun extras!

Most girls attend two regular meetings a month, and there are optional events like parties, fundraisers, or trips. You can do as much or as little as you’re comfortable with—and school and family always come first. Many of our members balance Rainbow with other activities such as sports, music, etc.

During initiation, you’ll be guided around the room by another member. At each station, you’ll learn about a special lesson and why it matters for living a happy, meaningful life. It’s a supportive and memorable way to officially become a Rainbow Girl — and you won’t be alone for a moment.

Parents, grandparents and guardians are encouraged to attend meetings, especially the initiation ceremony!
